My Story I never thought I would be a belly dancer. But one day I got the courage to take a class. The rest is history. I was immediately hooked on the beautiful movements and gorgeous music.

Once you join the belly dance class, you see it is all women. It is not one type of woman. It is not about having perfect confidence or wanting to be on stage. It is about learning this timeless art of belly dance.

Why I Teach on Zoom I have been teaching belly dance classes on Zoom for many years. Right now I have paused them, but the minute the first person signs up, we will set the time and start. It will be in the morning.

I will keep updating this page to tell you why belly dance is such an amazing sport and art.

What Makes Belly Dance Special Number one, it teaches you more flexibility and mindfulness than even yoga. Belly dance is a beautiful skill you can use forever.

I love belly dance because it teaches feminine movements and flirty ways you did not think you were allowed to do.

It is very sensual but we keep it classy. We do not do a lot of sexual moves β€” just a second here and there. A lot of belly dance is about mystery: show and hide. You might do a chest lift or shimmy for a second, then go back to cute and innocent moves. We have a pure, beautiful feeling in this dance.

The Joy of Belly Dance When you put on this music and move in these feminine ways, you exercise, stretch, and learn something new. It takes you to a happy, peaceful state. It reminds you that you are a woman. You can be beautiful. You can learn feminine tricks that make you more graceful.

Many people tell me I am graceful, but I learned that from belly dance. It taught me to love my body, accept all my curves, and feel good in every stage of life.

The Middle Eastern music is beautiful with complicated drum rhythms and lovely instruments. There are many different styles of belly dance. One popular style started in America called tribal fusion.

My Style A lot of popular belly dance dancers are very over-sexualized. I do not do that. I teach classic, pretty, sensual belly dance. I keep it classy and elegant. My main teachers were Rachel Brookemeyer and Jennifer Tether. I took classes with them for about 10 years.

Belly dance was my happy time when life was stressful. In Zoom Gym there are no mean girls. Everyone is welcome.

Who Can Join You can be a professional belly dancer who is much better than me β€” I welcome you! We can all dance together from home.

If you have never tried belly dance and feel scared to show your belly, you are welcome. Feeling like you do not have the right body, beauty, or coordination is the number one reason people do not try it. I felt that way too. But the moment you take your first class, you realize belly dance is for every woman at every stage of life.

In the old days and still today, an 80-year-old woman can dance and everyone loves it. It is not only for young and thin women. It is about expression. You can make it your own and put your personality into it.

Most girls wear a T-shirt and yoga pants. I like to show my belly so I can see my posture and moves better. Good posture makes belly dance look beautiful. It takes time to build those muscles.

How Belly Dance Changed Me I used to hate my body. I was an overweight teenager with many insecurities. Belly dance taught me to feel beautiful. Even now if I weigh more or am older, I still feel beautiful because of belly dance. You learn to appreciate what your body can do and how it can move. You can hide parts you do not like and show the parts you love.

Class Details For now, we do 25-30 minute classes. We warm up, breathe, dance a little, then go on with our day. I travel a lot so morning classes work best for me.

Private Options I offer private classes for $70 for 45 minutes. I love belly dance so much I would do it for free if I had more time.

I have performed in many places and danced on TikTok. Belly dance taught me to look confident even if I feel shy inside. It trains your body to stand tall, smile, and feel strong. Your body position can change how you feel.

I started belly dancing later in life. I wish I had begun earlier! It changed my life. I was raised to reject my femininity. Belly dance let me embrace it. It helped me take up space and feel strong in a beautiful way.
